Hi, My name is Rukmini. I work as an assistant director in the Ad film industry. I love reading (i am a compulsive reader) I read everything from classic western literature to paranormal Y A fiction. I also love reading comics and where comics are concerned I am bit of a horder. I am partial to DC. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Black Canary are among my favourite characters. In Marvel, I love the X-Men, but unfortunately I haven’t read a lot of other Marvel titles. One of my favourite graphic novels is Kingdom Come by Alex Ross and Mark Waid. I love the way its written and the artwork is simply breathtaking! Then there is Batman Hush, Superman For Tomorrow, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: The Long Halloween. The list is longer but these are ones I can recall most easily.

Among the contemporary fiction, some of my favourite writers are Jennifer L. Armentrout, Samantha Young, Gena Showlater, Laini Taylor and many more. The list is actually quite long. I also tend to get obsessed with series especially if they have killer cliffhangers (sometimes literally) I am not a big fan of biographies. In terms of non-ficiton, the only writer I’ve read is Arundhati Roy. Her essays are some of best piece of writing I have come across. Her fiction book: God of Small Things is also among my favourite books. It also packs a heavy punch so its not to be read lightly. Its slow and the narrative is non-linear. But if you finish the book, the end is very rewarding.

I am also a huge film buff. I love watching foreign language films though I also enjoy the summer blockbusters (ok maybe not all of them) I don’t think Nolan is god’s gift to filmdom. He is highly overrated and he lacks imagination. I love Luis Bunuel and his films. Exterminating Angels, The Discreet Charms of the Bourgeoisie, Tristana, Belle De Jour, Le Chien Andalou and L’Age D’Or. Among other directors, there are Billy Wilder, Hitchcock, Haneke, Tarantino and quite a few others (though not too many)

But that’s enough about me for now. 🙂 more to follow later……
