Frigid by J. Lynn Cover Reveal

So here’s another cover reveal for you guys and one that I was pretty excited about Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Then I found out that its a reveal for another book by the same author and not the one previously mentioned, this ones called Frigid and it’s under the pen name J. Lynn. While it may be a different book, I am still pretty excited by the Cover Reveal and the book definitely seems very interesting. There are a couple of teasers you can find on the author’s official website or her facebook page. So without further delay, here it is:

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn’t anything new. They’d been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the ‘man’ in man-whore. He’s never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn’t want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she’s perfect and she’s everything. But the feelings he has for her, he’s always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they’re stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor’easter, there’s nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Frigid will be available in digital formats on July 30th 2013

Reading Binge

So after finally finishing my last project, I indulged in some well-deserved binging. That’s what happens when you’re unable to read even a chapter or 2 when you’re working. So I read the following books: Pushing the limits by Katie McGarry, Waiting for You by J. Lynn, Last Kiss Goodnight and Beauty Awakened by Gena Showalter. Lets get started..

PTL final coverI LOVED Pushing the Limits and I can’t wait for the second installment!!! The wait is killing me!! The characters in this book were so well crafted and developed so well through the course of the book, that it was hard to remember that they were all fictional. McGarry really makes her readers feel like they’re living the life of the characters instead of mere spectators. And I loved that it was in dual-POV. I loved the main characters: Echo and Noah! And they were so good together.. What I also liked that it took them time to not only get along but also cope with their past. I don’t get books where something horrible has happened to one of the main characters and they can’t stand the other lead but less than halfway through the book, they’re in love with each other (when they supposedly couldn’t stand each other) We also had some great secondary characters and among my favorites were Isaiah and Lila. Isaiah was so lovable, all tattooed and huge but a very sweet guy and Lila because she stood by Echo when everyone else just turned their backs and also her willingness to support Echo even when she didn’t understand Echo’s actions. My only grouse with the book was the depiction of Ashley. McGarry spent so much of the book painting her the villain that it was tough to suddenly see her in fresh light. I understand that as readers we were looking through Echo’s eyes but still the sudden shift was tough to swallow. But that’s just me nit-picking. This was a great book and I highly recommend it..

WaitForYou AmazonI was very eagerly awaiting Waiting for you and I was thrilled when it released ahead of its scheduled release date. And I am sad to say that I felt a little underwhelmed by it. There were great characters and Avery was very likable and Cam was absolutely delicious. It even started great with just giving the readers hints of what had happened to Avery. And even the end was good but I have a problem with the whole middle chunk. There was a whole portion of the book where hardly anything happened, no progress of any sort. The “problem” took a back seat to an extent that I almost forgot that there was a problem to begin with. Which was disappointing..  If I had to compare Pushing the Limits and Waiting for You then Pushing the Limits is much better structured. But then this is Jennifer L. Armentrout, and her male characters are anything but forgettable and Cam was no different. Armentrout posted online what chapters or parts of the book we would like to read from Cam’s POV and please can I just have the whole book in his POV. It was obvious that he knew something was off with Avery and I would love to know what he was thinking and also all those times he asked her out and she said no.. Actually lets just stick with the whole book in his POV. As for declarations that Cam is better than Daemon, I’m sorry that’s just not true. I still prefer Daemon to Cam (though not by much) Anyway, hope we won’t have to wait too long for Cam POVs and hopefully there will be enough of them to satisfy us. On that note can we also please have those Daemon POVs that were mentioned by Ms. Armentrout, like when Katy got left behind with the Arum.. Pretty please. I know I am digressing but do bear with me, pretty please, can we have those POVs. Its bad enough that we now have to wait till August for Origin, instead of July as posted on Goodreads. This would help tide us over.

Other similar books that I loved and greatly enjoyed were Miss Me Not by Tiffany Kang and Easy by Tamara Webber. Also recommend these..

9780373777433 Last Kiss Goodnight Now for Last Kiss Goodnight by Gena Showalter, I am a big fan of Showalter and I love her Lords of the Underworld series but again I was left a more than a little disappointed with this book. It started well enough and again had great characters but I think for some reason Ms. Showalter pulled her punches in this book. She tried very hard to give our main protagonists a perfect ending and it just didn’t fit. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I guess if you read the book then maybe you’ll know what I’m talking about. Lovely cover though. As for Beauty Awakened, this was better. I read and loved Wicked Nights and this was no disappointment though not quite as good as its predecessor. I’m not sure what’s wrong, there just seems to be something that’s missing. Also there was too much of that ‘think happy thoughts and sow joy’ which was just too cheesy, I’m sorry but there was a little too much of that in this book, which got more than a little annoying at times. The universe is well imagined and with every book, is getting more detailed (yes I realize there are only 2 books so far) It was also good to meet more members of Zacharel’s army. But it’s very difficult to guess who the next book will be about, right now, although if I had to guess, I have a feeling its gonna be Thane. He was featured very prominently in Beauty Awakened. But I would like to read more about Jamila but since there were no bits of her own narrative, I don’t think we’re getting a book for quite sometime. Really looking forward to Darkest Craving, finally we return to the world of the LORDS and what a long wait it has been!! That should be awesome..

Now, I’ve hit a road block again, I have a number of books in my ‘to be read’ list and yet I can’t choose what I wanna read. So I shall do what I always do when this happens, re-read something (the only problem is that I’m having trouble choosing a book for that as well)
